Personal Experience
In addition to introducing community wildlife scouts program in Uganda, he is an expert in human-wildlife conflict mitigation who have trained community wildlife scouts in many landscapes in Uganda leading to formation of conservancy in Uganda. His experience from UWA and NGO made helped him identify gaps in community conservation that eventually made him pull out of the formal employment in 2020 to formed Umoja Wildlife Conservancies of Uganda, an umbrella organization for conservancies in Uganda.
Walter is winner of awards from Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife & Antiquates; Alibaba Foundation; and African Ranger Paradise Foundation for his roles in promoting community conservation.
Walter holds a Master of Business Administration, a Bachelors of Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution and Certificates in Wildlife Management form various Wildlife Colleges in Africa. He also received training in protected area management and tourism from Colorado State University, International Institute for Environment & Development (IIED), Earthwatch Institute and International Law Enforcement Academy, Gaborone.
